OSSTF Workshop, Feb. 14, 2020
Using social media in our personal lives as well as the classroom
February 14 is OSSTF PD DAY – Toronto Teachers
If you are a secondary school teacher in the TDSB, there is still room for you to join our half day workshop at Emery Collegiate (Weston Rd. & Finch Ave.) You can attend either during the morning session (9-11:30) or during the afternoon session (12:30-3:00).
Michelle Solomon and Nina Silver will be providing ideas about how to engage your students in activities that will motivate them to do deeper research when gathering information from their social media feeds. They will offer information about privacy issues surrounding our social media involvement, and introduce you to the posters that the AML has produced which outline the details of End User License Agreements (EULA’S). Come review the Key Concepts of Media Literacy, and work with your peers to develop practical classroom applications of the concepts to meet the mandated media literacy components of the Ontario English and Social Science curriculum.
Registration is no longer available on ‘Key to Learn’, but you can still be added to either workshop if you contact Nina Silver at mediateachsilver@sympatico.ca before Wednesday, Feb. 12.
